Matt and I just moved from Raleigh to the Charlotte area of NC back in May. It's been 7 months and I am loving it here!
We are living in a little town called Cornelius which is right on Lake Norman (the biggest lake in North Carolina). There are several small towns surrounding the lake: Cornelius, Huntersville, Davidson, Morresville, and several others. These are the most adorable little towns (especially Davidson) and each one has unique things to do and see.
One of my favorite places in our area is a sweet little shopping center in Huntersville called Birkdale Village. It really is a little village.
This is the main mall in the #LKN area and has everything you need. It's an open air shopping mall with apartments, offices, restaurants, shops, and a movie theater. It's soooooo beautiful. Very ritzy and modern. It offers a lovely shopping and dining experience!
I did all of my Christmas shopping here and I have to say, I had a really fun time. Matt and I also saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi here at the movie theater and it was gorgeous inside. What a great movie!
My favorite restaurants are Eez Sushi and Bad Daddy Burger. There are a lot more that look tasty that we will be trying in the future!
Charming Charlie's is probably my favorite store here! I told Matt, if you are ever in need of a gift for me, just go here. I like everything! You walk in and it feels like you are in Beverly Hills. It's so girly and glam and the prices are super affordable! They have very nice quality clothes, jewelry, handbags, stationary, and just great any-occasion gifts for girls and women. Love. It.
This mall is very well laid out, clean, and family friendly. I read somewhere that it's a new concept in design. A one-of-a-kind in terms of layout and experience. You don't find many shopping malls that are open-air/outside and go up in terms of utilizing space. It's less acreage because they are building upwards instead of outwards.
A few other stores they have are Barns & Noble, Pier 1, Victoria's Secret, and Banana Republic. They have candy and ice cream shops and even a wine lounge (Corkscrew). And of course a Starbucks for yummy coffee.
The holidays are in full swing at Birkdale. I love how they decorate during Christmas time. Wreaths everywhere and holiday music playing as you walk from shop to shop. Santa even made an appearance. I can't get enough.
This is definitely a 'must see' place to visit when you come to the Charlotte area!
