My Top 10 Favorite Photography Photos from 2017 + Year in Review!
Happy New Years Eve! As we end 2017 and get ready for 2018, I'm in total reflection mode: thinking back on the year I had and appreciating just being alive!
Wow! I had a terrific year! I did so much and saw so much. Matt and I made some amazing memories together in the process. It's so great to know that I really got out and experienced life. I showed up, worked hard, and produced content. Work that matters.
Highlights of 2017...
January started off with a bang! I had my Rainbow Leaf photo hanging in the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh (all year long) and landed my very first cover with Cary Living. In February, Matt and I toured the Ansel Adams exhibit in Raleigh which was so fabulous and then took a 4 day photo expedition trip to Nags Head/The Outer Banks.
Spring was really eventful because Matt got a 2 page spread in Our State Magazine and we got the best landscape shots ever of the Roan Mountain, Tennessee pink Rhododendrons. Check out the photo here! Spring was also awesome when Matt sold a bunch of his fine art photography images to be displayed in a beautiful new office building in Durham.
In early Summer we moved to the Charlotte area which was a huge deaI and I also landed my second cover with Cary Living. Matt got another 2 page spread in Our State Magazine in August and we finally ended the warm season with a long weekend getaway to Lake Toxaway in the NC Mountains...and I finally saw a bunch of white squirrels which was super neat.
Fall color wasn't as great as we had hoped for this year but we took a trip back to amazing Cataloochee Valley to see the Elk and enjoy the Smoky Mountains in Autumn. Fall also saw this new and improved blog plus my YouTube channel featuring recipe and lifestyle videos. I spent a lot of time teaching myself video editing which will be a focus of mine in 2018. Matt also landed the September cover of Cary Living with a beautiful photo of our baby, Mr. Truck! YEAH!
And Winter has been, well, pretty quiet to be honest: full of rest, relaxation, catching up on content, and spending time with family and friends. It has been an exciting year for me and Matt! I'm so incredibly thankful to be able to do all of this with him. <3
Woah I've been busy!
And in tradition, I'm ending the last day of the year by sharing my favorite photos that I took in 2017. It was so easy for me to pick my top 10 this year. In years past it wasn't so simple. But this year I knew what my favorites were. If I had to choose my final #1 from the collage above, it would be Autumn Stroll at Cataloochee (the one on the top with the elk - click the link to see photos from the entire trip). I think that is such a freaking awesome photo. So proud of it! :)
