Reflecting on 2018 + FAVORITES!!!!

2018 has been one of my best years to date! It was a great year for me in terms of growth both artistically and emotionally/spiritually. I had a lot of goals and aspirations at the beginning of the year and now that it's ending, I can look back and see through my content and experiences that I really showed up, hustled, and did the work and it has paid off in lots of ways including getting publications, magazine covers, and steady traffic and growth on my blog and youtube channel. Matt and I also did a lot of traveling combined and I am thrilled at the beautiful photos we took and the special memories we made! It was amazing!

This was my first full year running my blog and youtube channel. I put out 50 recipes (among many other photography posts) and 28 youtube videos. That's a lot of content! I really just started up YouTube as an experiment to see if I liked it and I really did. I honestly wish I could have put out more videos but they take such a long time to create. But I'm very happy with 28. I have my sights set for more video creation in 2019 and of course even more delicious plant based recipes which is my main focus. I'm very excited and am currently in planning mode for next year! Can't wait!

Here are some of my favorites from 2018! :)

1. My favorite 9 photos // 2018

Clockwise from top left: Cary Living Summer Cover, Acai bowl Recipe, Mama squirrel and her baby, Cary Living Holiday Food Cover + Recipe, Mr. Chipsmunk in Mount Rainier, Summer Daisies, Sunset at Lake Norman, Bald Eagle at Cape Flattery, and Blue Hour at Pier 66 in Seattle, Washington!

2. My favorite moment // 2018

Finding a Pacific Cost Sand Dollar on Hobuck Beach in Cape Flattery, Washington! Lucky find!

We were staying at Hobuck Beach campground and one morning we got up early to take a walk on the beach and on the way back I decided to walk in this little tide pool area. There were a lot of soft sand ripples in the water which felt so good on my feet. I looked down and saw this big shell peaking out of the sand. I quickly rinsed it off and realized it was a sand dollar. Wow! I was so in the moment that I completely forgot to take a picture of the sand dollar at the beach. lol

These were actually once a living organism. It also looks like the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars a little bit which is so funny. I brought it home and polished it up and it's just perfect. I keep it on my dresser in my room so I can love it every day. It means so much to me.

This is the tide pool area where I found it. I have since done a lot of research on Sand Dollars, specifically in the Pacific North West area, and this little habitat is a place where you can find a ton of dead sand dollar fossils. I have to go back someday!

3. My favorite song // 2018

Venice Bitch by Lana Del Rey <3 Completely and totally in love with this song. It's so gorgeous and trippy all at the same time. I first heard it on our way home from Washington. She had just released this single on YouTube so it was super exciting hearing it for the first time in the airport. I love getting high and listening to Lana! Good times :)

Matt and I saw Lana in concert back in February for her LA To the Moon Tour and it was another major highlight of my year. I love you Lana! <3

4. My favorite blog recipe // 2018

This was so easy! My favorite recipe I posted on my blog is hands down my Fresh Basil Pesto over Whole Grain Rotini Pasta! It's so delicious and super healthy and very easy to make! Do NOT skip out on the cherry tomatoes. They give it life! Click the link for the recipe and the fun music video tutorial I made and let me know if you liked it. Enjoy!

Happy New Year! <3
