January/February 2019 Publication in 'Wildlife in North Carolina' Magazine - 3rd Place

Super excited to share some great photography news today on my blog!

I am currently published in the Jan/Feb 2019 issue of Wildlife in North Carolina Magazine. This is my third time being published in this amazing magazine.

My photo "elk crossing" placed 3rd in the 2018 Photography Contest. It's a statewide nature photography competition open to all skill levels. There are 6 categories and my photo placed 3rd in the mammals category. I won $50 and will have my photo, along with all of the other winners, displayed in the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh all throughout this year. If you visit the museum it's located up by the butterfly garden.

My photo is of a young bull elk taking a morning stroll at Cataloochee Valley in the Great Smoky Mountains. You can see my travel post and all the photos (plus a video!) from that trip here!

I've been entering this competition for the last 5 years and this is my second time winning. Matt has also won twice! The competition is getting harder and harder to win each year so I'm really excited to have my work recognized and published along side of so many other incredibly photographers around North Carolina. It's such an incredible feeling.

I truly love sharing and documenting the beauty of life here in North Carolina and beyond. It brings me so much joy and happiness. I don't do photography just for the contests or the "winnings." I do it because I genuinely enjoy taking pictures and deeply care about nature, the environment, and the beautiful animals we share this planet with.
